The White Book of Rhydderch and the Mabinogion
Book now

An introduction by the National Library's Education Service to the White Book of Rhydderch, a medieval manuscripts and one of Wales’s most important cultural treasures. It contains the earliest record of the tales of the Maboinogi, and if this volume hadn’t survived perhaps we would never have heard of Culhwch and Olwen, Pwyll and Rhiannon, or Bendigeidfran. The video explains what a manuscript is, and discusses how the book was created by monks in Strata Florida Abbey over 650 years ago - as well as looking at how the volume was aquired by the National Library of Wales.
